This is the endoscopic procedure for placing a balloon of fluid into the stomach.  It is a non-surgical weight loss aid.  The goal is to

restrict food intake by taking up space in the stomach with a silicone ball.  Due to its presence, the patient’s portion size is reduced, and the appetite is indirectly reduced, since the stomach is constantly full.  There are gastric balloons that can remain in the stomach for 6-12 months and can also be adjusted in volume for 1 year.

Gastric balloon is a simple endoscopic procedure.  After 8 hours of fasting, endoscopy is performed using sedatives.  If no disease is found in the stomach, the deflated balloon is inflated in the stomach in the appropriate position.  The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes.  After 30-45 minutes, liquid food is taken and the patient is discharged.

At the end of the treatment, the balloon is emptied with special devices and removed.
